Recommended entry profile

For the Degree in Physics, no specific prior training is required beyond that established in Art. 14.1 of RD 1393/2007. However, it is recommended that students have a scientific or scientific-technological background; that is, that they have a (significant) background in physics and mathematics. Knowledge of biology, chemistry, geology and technical drawing is also recommended.

On the other hand, it would be desirable for future students of the Degree in Physics to have the following personal and academic characteristics:

  • Capacity for abstract reasoning
  • Passion for observing and modelling nature
  • Capacity for synthesis
  • Interest in problem solving
  • Scientific curiosity
  • Consistency, discipline and responsibility at work
  • Competence in oral and written expression in Spanish and English
  • Ability to work in a team

Graduation profile

Physics graduates acquire the necessary skills to successfully undertake some of the following activities:

  • Promotion and development of scientific and technological innovation.
  • Planning and management of physics-related technologies in sectors such as industry, environment, health, cultural heritage, public administration and banking, among others.
  • Development of professional activities within the framework of applied technologies, both at laboratory and industrial level, relating in general to physics, such as: radio protection, telecommunications, remote diagnosis, remote satellite control, quality control, among others.
  • Participation in activities of public and private research centers, including management.

Among the academic pathways to which the degree gives access, it is worth highlighting the possibility of taking some of the official master's degrees taught at our University, such as:

  • Master in Astrophysics
  • Master in Renewable Energy
  • Master in Mathematical Modelling and Research. Statistics and Computing
  • Master's Degree in Teacher Training for Compulsory Secondary Education and Baccalaureate, Vocational Training and Language Teaching (Interuniversity).

However, from the experience of students who have graduated in recent years, it is worth noting that the Graduates in Physics from ULL have also complemented their training in other centers of recognized national and international prestige.
